We asked what Diane Arbus has taught some of our interviewees...

...and what Arbus has taught some of us.
After learning about Diane, 'judging a book by its cover' means so much more than we think. It means that people who don’t look 'normal' to others are still people. You don’t need to be afraid of them. Diane became great friends with most of her subjects, even those who were completely different from her, by treating them with respect. That feeling of being treated equally is probably one of the best feelings on earth. My only regret about this project was that I never had a chance to meet Diane Arbus in person.
